Welcome to the Dressage Today podcast sponsored by Equithrive. In this episode, Aviva and Stephanie talk about the mental health aspect of the horse industry and how their interviews with Nancy Lavoie and Dr. Jenny Susser can help start a conversation. Then Aviva talks about how a canter transition is scored when it happens early or late.
Together they interview Dr. Jenny Susser who did a series of articles with Dressage Today in the past. Dr. Susser has a PhD in Clinical Health Psychology, specializing in Sport Psychology. She has been engaged in the art and science of human performance her entire life, beginning with her own athletic journey. A four-year All-American swimmer, she served as assistant coach at UCLA, swam on two national teams, and competed at the 1988 Olympic Trials.
After retiring from competition, Dr. Jenny shifted her focus to helping high-performing athletes in every sport. She has worked with individual athletes in the 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympic Games and served as Team Sport Psychologist for the 2012 Olympic Dressage Team in London.
Athletes aren’t the only people who rely on Dr. Jenny’s high-performance expertise. As a keynote speaker and corporate trainer, she has prepared leaders around the world to thrive in high-pressure environments. Dr. Jenny’s seamless blend of science/research, education, experience, and intuition creates a powerful experience and remarkable results for people who are ready to accept and activate her guidance.
